Troubleshooting
Voice Call Issues
Call Won't Connect
Probable cause: Weak or unstable internet connection.
Fix:
- Check your internet connection (try loading a website)
- Switch to Wi-Fi if you're on cellular (or vice versa)
- Close and reopen the Cloa app
- Try starting the call again
Voice calls require a stable internet connection for real-time audio streaming.
Poor Audio Quality
Probable cause: Low bandwidth or network congestion.
Fix:
- Move to an area with better signal
- Close other apps that use bandwidth (video streaming, downloads)
- If on Wi-Fi, move closer to your router
- Try using headphones for clearer audio input
Cloa Doesn't Respond
Probable cause: Microphone permission not granted.
Fix:
- Check that Cloa has microphone permission in your phone's settings:
- iOS: Settings → Cloa → Microphone → On
- Android: Settings → Apps → Cloa → Permissions → Microphone → Allow
- Close and reopen the Cloa app
- Try starting the call again
Barge-In Not Working
Probable cause: Background noise or microphone sensitivity.
Fix:
- Move to a quieter environment
- Use headphones with a built-in microphone
- Speak clearly and at a normal volume
- Wait for a brief pause before interrupting
Echo or Feedback
Probable cause: Speaker audio being picked up by the microphone.
Fix:
- Use headphones — this eliminates echo entirely
- Lower your speaker volume
- Hold the phone away from your ear if using speaker mode
